No. 49 of 2010: No Age - Everything In Between

No Age came onto the scene in 2007 wearing their lo-fi aesthetic proudly on their arms.  And from those early EP beginnings, No Age, with assistance from a few other bands, helped to place the spotlight back on lo-fi as a legitimate genre of music, and although some critics may argue the point, I won't.  Everything In Between comes as a culmination of sorts, bringing those often indiscernible early lo-fi markers into the light and mixing them up hooks and recognizably catchy melodies, not that those particular aspects weren't in evidence on their earlier records, they just seemed buried to a good degree beneath the music. But No Age have brought themselves up to a par that nobody could have imagined only a few years ago. With songs like "Glitter" or "Fever Dreaming", they've perfectly bridged the distance between the hiss-strewn tracks of their earliest work and the pop-oriented, which it can liberally be called, manners of Nouns and come out with a record of blistering creativity and propulsive songs, which leads me to wonder where they'll end up next.
